Shabby Chic #7 - Sand & Sea from 49th & Market

I was so very excited when this paper collection arrived at Stacey's store! I purchased both the 12 x 12 pad and the 8 x 8 pad. But now I am showing you what we are making in our 7th Shabby Chic card class!

When: Thursday, September 14th
Time: 6:00 - 8:30
Cost: $30 + GST...

To register for this class, please contact Stacey -

I am so excited to finally get to the Sand & Sea collection from 49th & Market for this Shabby Chic card class! I fell in love with this collection when I saw it, and my mind filled with a ton of ideas for this collection. I saw albums, layouts, boxes, and for filling my planner using the 8 x 8 pad. And of course I also saw more Shabby Chic cards, and that is what we are doing for our 7th Shabby Chic card class.

For this class we will be using a couple of Gabi's stamps sets (Line Stitch, & Loose Threads), both of which Stacey has in the store. We will be mixing colour into the Stucco Paste to create a sand colour to it and apply to the cards. These cards are so Victoria! I would want to make a ton of them....

Please bring to class: Non-stick craft mat, scissors, Gathered Twigs ink pad and re-inker if you have, ink blending tool or sponge, paper distresser, a couple of tooth picks, margarine or yogurt lid, double sided adhesive, liquid glue, 3D foam squares or tape, your Liquitex Stucco Paste if you have, a palette knife, a couple of baby wipes for your fingers, and these stamp sets if you have them - (Line Stitch, & Loose Threads) along with a long clear stamp block at least 6" long.

A closer look at the cards and see if you can find the sand-like texture added to the cards. Everyone is going to have fun with that.

Being by the ocean here in Victoria, BC, seagulls are all over the place, so this is not an unfamiliar scene.

We are going to have so much fun in this class, and I am looking forward to seeing our Shabby Chic fans there.

Happy creating everyone!

Christmas in July Shabby Chic Style Class Photos

On Saturday we had our first Christmas card classes of the year which we always call Christmas in July! I taught the first of the classes for the day, and it was the "Christmas in July Shabby Chic Style" class. It was a full class, and everyone ended up with paper snow in their laps, gesso on their fingers, and glitter on their cheeks, clothes and hands.

Here is the first card we put together...

...and the second card assembled...

...and the third and final card.

Sorry that I can't remember who it was that I asked to put their three cards together so that I could take a photo of them, but here they are.

Stacey taught the second class of the day, and then I taught the third class of the day. All three classes were Christmas cards. Unfortunately I was so tired at the end of the day that I did not get any class photos taken to share with you. There were some diehards there that took all three classes! And some that took two of the classes. They must have been exhausted by the end of the day. I sure was.

Everyone have a great week, and happy creating!

Shabby Chic #5 Class Photos

Last week we had our 5th Shabby Chic class. We again, used some of the gorgeous 49th & Market papers! And as usual we had a lot of fun in class. The class was filled right up! I took about 50 photos and had to decide which ones to post. It turned out taking a lot of time! Anyway, here they are.

So here are photos of their busy hands making the cards at the Scrapbook Essentials BC Studio.

So why did I take 50 photos? Who knows. I think with a full class and going around taking photos for each person each time I went a round, it just ended up to be too many. Anyway, I hope you have enjoyed the photos from class.

I look forward to our next Shabby Chic class. And guess what? We are using 49th & Market again! Love their products!

Happy creating everyone!

Christmas Stamping Class

I always love working with beautiful papers and making the most of them. But, I also love to stamp and create with them on cardstock! I know there are stampers that frequent Scrapbook Essentials BC, and may be wishing for more stamping classes! Well you are in luck with this stamping Christmas card class using one of the three Graphic 45 Christmas Carol stamp sets!

These are the six cards we will be making in class.

G45 Christmas Stamp Card Class # 2
When: Thursday, September 7th
Time: 6:00 - 9:00
Cost: $40 + GST (includes stamp set / $30 in product)

To register for this class, contact Stacey -

This is a fun class for those that LOVE STAMPING! We will be using one of the three stamps sets from the G45 Christmas Carol collection to make six Christmas cards. There will be no paper from the collection, just the stamp set and cardstock already cut for you. You get to do the stamping, heat embossing ink sponging, and assembly of the cards. To make these cards we will create backgrounds, embellish with stamping, sponging, and create individual pieces that are fussy cut out and popped up on the cards. A fun way to get our fingers a little dirty and colourful, lol.

Please Bring to Class: Scissors, craft mat, 3 ink blending tool/sponges, a few different sized clear blocks for your stamp set, stamp cleaner, double sided adhesive tape, white 3D Foam Squares or tape, corner rounder, Watermark Versa ink pad (needs to be juicy or reinked), white embossing powder, heat tool, Stickles in either Stardust or Icicles, Alcohol marker in a nice Christmas red (Spectrum Noir DR3) to colour pearls, and TH Distress ink pads in the following colours or similar colours in other brands of ink pads: Red; Barn Door or Candied Apple, Green; Forrest Moss or Mowed Lawn, Blue; Faded Jeans or Mermaid Lagoon, Brown; Gathered Twigs or Brushed Corduroy

To the left is the stamp set that we will be using in class. And everyone will be able to take their stamp set home to create more Christmas cards of your own design!

Here are the six cards we will be making in class.

Wishing I had stamped the holly green on the circle for the above card.

Hope it looks like a lot of fun for you stampers out there. See you in class!

Long & Tall Cards

It is always a nice change of pace and a little more fun, when you make cards that are not the usual A7 or A2 sizes. For this Scrapbook Essentials BC class we are making card to fit inside a business #10 envelope. Long or tall cards, depending on which way they stand.

This is the paper pad everyone will get in class.

Long Cards Stack - A DOZEN CARDS
When: Thursday, August 10th
Time: 6:00 - 9:00
Cost: $40 + GST

To register for this class contact Stacey at -

For this class we are using a unique sized pad of paper measuring 6"w x 8"h. With paper this size, I just had to create some long cards. Whether they be vertical and tall, or horizontal and long, these cards fit perfectly into the #10 business envelope. The cards are designed so that you have plenty of space to add your own stamped sentiment banner/pieces. These are simple cards, but involve some fussy cutting.

Included in your kit is product to make 2 more of each of four the cards - so that's 12 cards in total!

BRING TO CLASS: paper trimmer, scissors, double sided adhesive tape, scotch tape, black 3D foam squares/tape, mini-glue dots, liquid glue, multiple sized rhinestones

So as said before, we will make these four cards in class, but you will materials to create each card two more times, making a total of 12 cards! Plus, there will be a lot of other papers left in the pad to go home with and make more cards of your own design!

See you in class, and happy creating!
